Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott has said that he is delighted with the strength and depth of his squad ahead of the new season.

His summer signings so far are Stephen O'Halloran, Jon-Paul McGovern, Andy Welsh and .

Abbot told BBC Cumbria: "We've got a really, really big squad with a bit of depth to it now.

"We've got so many choices, so many options and so much quality running through the club now."

He added: "Man for man I don't think we've got the strongest squad in the league, but man for man when we're together and we're united and we've got everyone pulling in the same direction, we are a real threat to everybody."

He also revealed that there are no more new signings on the horizon: "Right now, as we are, there's nothing imminent, but there are still phone calls being made, still work being done."

Winger Kevan Hurst is the only major departure from Brunton Park this summer, and Abbott is hopeful he will remain so.

"I don't want to encourage any interest in anybody from our club at the moment. We're completely happy with what we've got and desperately don't want to lose anybody," he said.
