Cillian Sheridan has agreed to join St Johnstone on loan for six months.

The former Celtic striker had been on trial with Hibernian but failed to agree terms to take him to Edinburgh from Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia.

Sheridan, 22, had loan spells from Celtic at Motherwell in 2009, then at Plymouth Argyle and the Perth Saints the following season.

St Johnstone hope to gain international clearance in time for him to play against Aberdeen on Saturday.

The Republic of Ireland international joined CSKA Sofia on a three-year deal in August 2010.

Meanwhile, St Johnstone have stated on their website that they will not be signing Danijel Subotic, who had been on trial at McDiarmid Park.
