Middlesbrough have confirmed the permanent transfer of midfielder Didier Digard to Nice for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old was recently made captain of the French Ligue 1 club after spending the last one and half seasons there on loan.

Digard signed for Middlesbrough from Paris Saint-Germain for £4m in July 2008.

A string of injuries limited him to making just 34 appearances for Boro, scoring one goal.

Digard began his career with French side Le Havre in 2003 and spent four years at the club before signing for PSG in 2007 for £100,000.
