Kettering Town boss Morell Maison says he is looking to sign six or seven more players ahead of the new season.
The Poppies have made four signings this summer, including the former Motherwell midfielder Steven Meechan.
Maison told BBC Radio Northampton: "We're looking at a squad of about 16 so we've got six or seven more to come.
"Before the friendly match against Southampton [on Thursday], we should have another three or four in."
Meechan, 20, was released by Scottish Premier League Motherwell at the end of last season and Maison revealed Kettering beat a fellow Blue Square Bet Premier side to his signature.
"A lot of people were shocked when he left and surprised to see us get him," said Maison.
"Stockport were trying to sign him and we snatched him from under their noses. He's a very good player."
The Poppies have also added Aman Verma, Jerel Ifil and Craig Dobson to their squad.
"Ifil has played over 200 League games, and Dobson has been promoted from the Conference and been in the MK Dons squad that got promotion to League One - he's been around success," added Maison.
"We've identified the players that we feel will move the club forward."
