Swindon Town goalkeeper Mattia Lanzano will miss the start of the season with a side strain.
Boss Paolo di Canio told BBC Wiltshire: "He received an elbow in his side and will take time to recover, maybe seven to ten days.
"He did not train over the past few days and I don't think he can be ready for the game against Crewe."
Di Canio also confirmed that captain Oliver Risser has fully recovered from a hamstring problem.
The Robins boss added: "He can play. He's with us and can be part of the Crewe game if nothing more happens in the next two days."
However, the Robins manager denied claims that Wilko Risser, Oliver's brother, is on trial at the club, insisting he is only training with the team to keep up his fitness.
Lanzano, 20, also arrived at the County Ground in July, after moving from Italian outfit US Gavorrano 1930 on a two-year deal.
