Crewe Alexandra boss Dario Gradi looks to Rochdale test
Crewe Alexandra's pre-season friendly against Rochdale will give manager Dario Gradi a clearer indication of his team for the season opener at Swindon.
The Alex have so far beaten Wolves and Derby in the build-up towards the game on Saturday, 6 August.
Gradi, who will be starting his 29th season at Crewe, told BBC Radio Stoke: "Rochdale will be closer to us and they will be more of a measurement."
Goalkeeper Alan Martin could feature on Saturday having signed a 12-month deal.
Crewe have decided not to pursue any further interest in trialist central defender Chris Hogg. who was at the club for a few days and played in the 2-1 win over Derby County on Tuesday night.
Tom Parkes, another trialist that Crewe have checked on, has agreed to join Burton Albion on loan from Leicester City.
The visit of Rochdale will bring to an end the Alex's main pre-season fixture programme and Gradi added: "We are playing slightly differently. I will be looking for the players to play like we practice and those who aren't in the starting line to push for a place and those who are in it to stay in it."
