Kilmarnock boss Shiels 'still experimenting' with team
Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels says the short summer break and large turnover of players means he is still undecided on his first choice team.
The Ayrshire side lost several players in the summer and made eight signings.
"This season we have had major problems because we are trying to rebuild and haven't had a lot of time to do it in," said Shiels.
"We have had a double whammy and we're not ready - it's as simple as that. As a result, I don't know my best team."
Shiels may yet make more captures with the Northern Irishman assessing some targets.
"We have a couple but it's difficult with the budgetary situation," said Shiels. "But the chairman has been very, very supportive.
"We are experimenting at the moment and that's not the right way to be. You should know your best team but we haven't had time to do that."
Killie host Motherwell this weekend with Shiels hoping to build on last week's draw with Dundee United.
"They are a fantastic team," said Shiels of Saturday's visitors to Rugby Park.
"They are different to us because they have their team bedded in, so they are hitting the ground running."
