Forest Green have re-signed Kettering Town centre-back Luke Graham for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old has signed a two-year deal and will cost his side an extra payment to the Poppies if he helps Rovers reach the play-offs.
Graham, who had a loan spell at Forest Green in 2005/06, joined Kettering last summer from York and ended the 2010/11 season on loan at Luton.
Rovers boss Dave Hockaday said: "His experience will complement our squad."
He added: "Luke Graham is a player I have been interested in for a long time.
"He is vastly experienced in this league and comes from winning teams and has a mentality to win games."
Earlier this week, Poppies boss Morell Maison told BBC Radio Northampton: "Luke has got a bit to do to break into this group.
"His game hasn't moved to the levels that I expect and that I know he is capable of. He has had a slow start, and his back problem has limited him in training.
"I am looking for another centre-half so it is not going to be easy to get into this squad."
