Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia has signed a new four-year deal that will keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2015.

The 25-year-old has scored 10 goals in 69 appearances since joining United from Wigan Athletic in 2009.

He told the club website:external-link "I am delighted to stay at United. I hope that I can continue to develop.

"I am looking forward to making my contribution to helping this squad compete for more trophies."

The Ecuadorian started only eight games last season after suffering a broken ankle and missed the recent pre-season tour to the United States with a separate ankle injury.

But manager Sir Alex Ferguson was happy to secure his services for another four years.

"Antonio has made a fantastic contribution since his arrival. His speed, crossing ability and versatility have been a big asset for us," said Ferguson.

"He has a quiet, unassuming way of going about his business, which is underlined by great strength of character - as his recovery from such a bad injury last season proves."
