A Marvin Emnes hat-trick helped Middlesbrough cruise past Walsall in the first round of the Carling Cup.
Walsall were on the back foot after 12 minutes when midfielder Adam Chambers was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Richard Smallwood.
Boro soon capitalised with Emnes firing in from 18 yards before he doubled the visitors' lead in the 37th minute.
Emnes converted his third from the spot in the 52nd minute after Kevan Hurst brought down Smallwood in the area.
