Charlton-Reading Carling Cup match called off

Charlton have called off Tuesday's Carling Cup tie against Reading on police advice.

The decision was taken because of safety fears following a period of rioting in London.

Addicks chief executive Stephen Kavanagh told the club website: "Clearly the most important factor is people's safety.

"The police have told us they believe the match should be postponed on safety grounds and we have taken that advice."
