Rochdale sign midfielder Paul Marshall

Marshall made 18 league appearances for Walsall last season

Rochdale have signed former Walsall midfielder Paul Marshall on non-contract terms.

The 22-year-old spent pre-season at Spotland after being released by the Saddlers earlier in the summer.

He began his career at Manchester City, where Dale manager Steve Eyre was youth team coach, before loan spells at Blackpool, Port Vale and Aberdeen.

Marshall came off the bench to score Rochdale's only goal in Saturday's 2-1 friendly defeat at Crewe.

Dale begin their second successive season in League One on Saturday when they travel to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday.
