Wrexham legend Dixie McNeil welcomes Racecourse sale

The Racecourse
The Racecourse has been Wrexham FC's home since 1872

Former Wrexham manager Dixie McNeil believes Glyndwr University's proposed purchase of the Racecourse is good news for the troubled club.

The deal would also see the university purchase the Collliers Park training complex but does not include Wrexham FC.

But McNeil hopes the development can allow the Supporters Trust to take over the club.

"I think it's come at the right time for sure," said McNeil.

"We were all thinking the club [would be] going into administration this week if nothing happened.

"It's a massive leap forward and hopefully things can go ahead and the Trust can probably take the football club on.

"They're not going to have the overheads of the ground; they're not going to have to pay money on the upgrade of the ground. That's up to the university now."
