Arsenal striker Julie Fleeting scored their first goal after 21 minute to give the home side a deserved lead.

Kim Little hit two goals as Arsenal beat Lincoln 4-0 to raise the stakes at the top of the Women's Super League.

The Gunners' victory took them to within two points of leaders Birmingham City, on whom they have a game in hand.

The two teams meet at Birmingham on Sunday in what will be the biggest match yet in the inaugural WSL season.

Blues have topped the table for almost four months, but Arsenal will overtake them if they avenge the 2-1 home defeat suffered against City in late April.

The pre-season title favourites should head into Sunday's game with confidence after comfortably beating Lincoln.

Three first-half goals set the Gunners on their way, Scotland striker Julie Fleeting claiming the first of them in the 21st minute.

Scotland midfielder Little doubled the lead after 39 minutes and, 60 seconds later, striker Danielle Carter hit the goal that effectively wrapped up victory for the home side.

Little grabbed her second goal of the night, and her fifth in six WSL outings, to complete the scoring 10 minutes from time.
