Harry Davis is ready to make his first Football League start for Crewe Alexandra against Swindon at the County Ground on Saturday.
The 19-year-old defender has made two substitute appearances for the Alex.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've heard there's going to be a big crowd there and I can't wait to get out onto the pitch and show what I can do."
Manager Dario Gradi has a full-strength squad to choose from for the opening game of the League Two season.
Davis, who has played at centre-half during his time with Crewe's academy, is likely to start at right-back against the Robins.
"Right-back is something that I'm not used to because I've never played there before," added Davis, who is the son of assistant manager Steve.
"Things aren't going to click straight away.
"Pre-season has gone well for me so far so hopefully I can kick on from here and establish myself in the side."
Former West Ham striker Paolo Di Canio will take charge of Swindon, who were relegated from League One at the end of last season, for the first time on Saturday.
