Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has expressed his interest in signing Manchester City forward Craig Bellamy.
Wales international Bellamy, 32, is looking for a new club after he was told he can leave City.
And Bruce still wants to bolster his attacking options, despite having already brought in nine new faces.
"Craig Bellamy is a possibility. He can play wide left and up front so we'll see," said the Sunderland manager about the player also wanted by Celtic.
Former Newcastle star Bellamy, who spent last season on loan at hometown club Cardiff, has one year remaining on his City contract and a loan move to Celtic is also a possibility.
Sunderland are targeting another wide player following the departure of Steed Malbranque on Wednesday to St Etienne.
Bruce has admitted he is carefully watching the situation at big-spending City where several players are surplus to requirements.
He added: "I haven't got a wide left player, not a natural one, although we've got people who can play there.
"Steed leaving frees up a wage for us.
"We're all looking at Manchester City because they've got some great players who can't even get in the squad."
