Rochdale 0-0 Carlisle

Rochdale are still without a League One victory this season following a goalless draw with Carlisle United.

The hosts had the better of the first half and captain Gary Jones came closest to scoring but saw his 20-yard shot well saved by Adam Collin.

Peter Murphy had Carlisle's best chance as his well-struck free-kick floated narrowly wide of Jake Kean's far post.

Rochdale had a penalty appeal waved away after Paul Thirlwell's challenge on Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Rochdale manager Steve Eyre told BBC Radio Manchester:

"We were very organised tonight, we had a bit of steel about us, we're delighted with the clean sheet but we think we may have just done enough to edge the game.

"We had a lot of impetus but they did cancel us out on quite a few occasions and we looked a little bit leggy.

"I'm not sure we got close enough to the goal tonight to score a winner, as our best chances fell to Andrew Tutte from 20 yards."

VIEWS FROM THE TRAINING GROUND:

Rochdale manager Steve Eyre told BBC Radio Manchester:

"We've seen them on DVD and I know Greg Abbott has done very well during his time there.

"The league hasn't settled down yet but we're just concentrating on ourselves now.

"What we're striving for is a result and performance to match each other and to go in front and stop chasing."
