MK Dons manager Karl Robinson expects further interest from "big football clubs" in striker Sam Baldock.
The club accepted an offer for the 22-year-old from Peterborough in June but the deal broke down.
Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio: "With the talent he's got we're always going to be batting off big football clubs because of his ability.
"We accepted £1.2m and it's got to be at that point before the club will start listening to anything else."
He added: "That's not pricing him out the ball park because he's that type of player and he possesses that quality.
"Sam's happy playing his football here until the right club comes along for him to further his career."
Baldock scored 14 goals in 34 appearances for MK Dons last season but Robinson said he would like to see the player's scoring ratio improve.
"He deserves a fantastic career but he needs to start scoring goals on a consistent basis and keeping himself fit," he said.
"People will always question him missing chances but I'll back him against anybody, he's one of the best I've worked with."
