Two penalty saves from Steven Arnold helped Hayes and Yeading beat Alfreton.
Matt McClure's close-range finish put Hayes in front before Paul Clayton's spot-kick was blocked by Arnold.
Richard Pacquette doubled the hosts' lead when he curled a shot into the far corner and Arnold saved another penalty when he frustrated Alfreton's Josh Law.
Jamie Mullan gave the visitors hope by touching in Nathan Arnold's low cross, but Ryan Crockford sealed the win with a well-placed free-kick from 25 yards.
