Martin Boyle struck twice in the first half to ease Montrose to a win over Elgin at Links Park.
Boyle scored from distance to put the home side ahead on 11 minutes after Alan Cambell earlier missed the target from a corner.
The striker then fired a 12-yard effort into the top-right corner of the goal to put his team two up.
Scott Johnston was brought down after the restart to earn Montrose a penalty, which was converted by John Crawford.
