MK Dons 6-2 Chesterfield

Sam Baldock hit a hat-trick as MK Dons demolished Chesterfield to move top of the table.

Baldock opened the scoring from a tight angle before Scott Boden tapped in an equaliser.

Baldock slid home his second and Dean Bowditch made it 3-1 from close range before Boden headed one back.

In the last 20 minutes Luke Chadwick curled home, Baldock completed his hat-trick from 25-yards and Jay O'Shea made it six from the penalty spot.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"Before today we have had the performance levels. The difference today was we got the ball in the net on a consistent basis. It was a wonderful performance by a group of men that worked hard all week, all season and all summer.

"People will start to listen to us about how good he [Sam Baldock] is. He is a very, very exceptionally gifted footballer. We see him do that all the time in training and it is no surprise when we seem him put them in the back of the net.

"It was a good test today, Chesterfield are a good team. Maybe it wasn't their day."

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"Some of the goals we let in were shambolic. I've got to look at the players and think, can they handle it? I have to make decisions.

"When you're losing, you have to look at other things."
