Coventry and Watford are still awaiting their first wins this season and are now both in the bottom three.
Joe Murphy produced a fine performance to give Coventry their first point of the campaign with Mark Yeates, Marvin Sordell and John Eustace all denied.
Coventry went close themselves with substitute Freddy Eastwood's shot well saved by Scott Loach and he later brilliantly denied Lukas Jutkiewicz.
And Murphy made a fantastic double save with six minutes to go to seal a point.
