Colchester United winger Ashley Vincent will be sidelined for around six weeks with a knee injury.
The 26-year-old was carried off shortly before half-time in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wycombe, following a challenge from Gareth Ainsworth.
A scan eased fears he had sustained a cruciate rupture.
"Ashley has suffered a lateral ligament strain in his knee and an associated calf muscle sprain," physio Tony Flynn told the club website.
"It's disappointing for Ashley and the manager that he will be missing for that long but a relief that it wasn't more serious.
"Ashley has suffered a cruciate tear before and knows the recovery process is a long, hard one so he's relatively pleased with the news."
Meanwhile goalkeeper Ben Williams and midfielder Andy Bond are expected to be in contention for Saturday's trip to Huddersfield, after missing the first four games through injury.
