Manager Steve Tilson says Lincoln City must be more ruthless and press home the advantage when they lead in games.
The Imps led twice in their Blue Square Bet Premier match at Southport but had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw.
Tilson told BBC Lincolnshire: "When we go ahead I don't want us to be hanging on, I want us to get the next goal and make life easier for ourselves.
"We led twice but we took our foot off the pedal when we should have gone for the throat and tried to win the game."
