Midfielder Owen Morrison is set to join Premier Division title-chasers Derry City for a third time.
The deal will be finalised as soon as City get international clearance for the 29-year-old midfielder who has been playing in the United States.
Morrison, most recently with FC New York in the USL Professional Division, will be with Derry until the end of the League of Ireland season.
Derry boss Stephen Kenny said he needed to strengthen for the title run-in.
Front man James McClean recently moved from Derry to Sunderland, while Stephen Parkhouse and Thomas McBride had earlier left the Brandywell for new clubs.
Derry are currently top of the Premier Division, level on points with champions Shamrock Rovers who have one match in hand.
During his two spells with Derry, Morrison scored four goals in 24 appearances.
He played under Kenny at Dunfermline Athletic and has also had spells with Sligo Rovers and Portadown.
Before that, the former Northern Ireland Under-21 player was with Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford City.
