Port Vale avoiding promotion limelight - Lee Collins

Defender Lee Collins believes Port Vale have a better chance of success this season as there are more teams battling for promotion from League Two.

"We're not in the limelight," Collins told BBC Radio Stoke. "When we were top last year, everyone was out to beat us.

"There's all the speculation over Crawley and other teams that are spending some money.

"That's got to put a lot of pressure on their players. I'm happy that it's not us getting all the pressure put on us."

Micky Adams' side have collected five points from three league matches so far this season and are yet to be beaten in League Two, although they were knocked out of the Carling Cup by Huddersfield.

An opening day draw at home to Crawley was followed by victory at Barnet and a 1-1 draw at Burton.

Vale are 10th in the table, four points behind leaders Rotherham, who are the only team with a 100% record in the division.

"It's early to tell who is going to be up there but I should think we will be and obviously the likes of Crawley," added former Wolves trainee Collins.
