Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law was delighted with his side's first point of the season as they got off the mark with a goalless draw against Southport.
Law's side are playing their first season in the Blue Square Bet Premier following last season's promotion.
And he told BBC Radio Derby: "We knew we had to get something out of the game. It was about getting a start, getting a point on the board.
"Every week in this league we'll be challenged. It's a different level."
He added: "We need to learn to live with that before it kills us.
"We can go out and give it our best but we may come up short.
"It's difficult for everyone concerned, we are going to lose games this year, we've had three years of not losing but I'm realistic.
"I think Fleetwood got to the play-offs last year and lost 14 games, I don't think we've lost 14 games in three years."
