Former Scotland squad goalkeeper Alan Combe has joined the coaching staff at Alloa Athletic, having retired from playing in January.

He replaces Gordon Marshall as goalkeeping coach after the 47-year-old took up the same post at one of his former clubs, Motherwell.

The 37-year-old Combe retired from playing following a series of injuries suffered while with Kilmarnock.

He had spent seven years with the Scottish Premier League club.

Combe, who was capped at Scotland B level, began his senior career with Cowdenbeath before also playing for St Mirren, Dundee United and Bradford City.

Now he will work under former Scotland, Hearts, Celtic, Bristol City, Hibernian, Millwall, St Johnstone and Raith Rovers midfielder Paul Hartley, who took charge of the Third Division in the summer after leaving Aberdeen.

The 47-year-old Marshall last week took over at Fir Park from Stuart Kerr, who left the Scottish Premier League club for family reasons.
