Brentford 0-2 Tranmere

Well-taken goals from Robbie Weir and Andy Robinson helped Tranmere to victory over Brentford.

Rovers took the lead when Weir, unmarked at the far-post, headed home Robinson's pin-point cross.

The hosts came closest to scoring when Gary Alexander saw a speculative effort bounce off the bar.

Tranmere doubled their lead when Robinson lashed an unstoppable dipped drive from 30 yards that left Brentford keeper Richard Lee with no chance.

Tranmere manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"The difference this season is we're getting midfielders in the box and it's great that a midfielder (Robbie Weir) ended up heading the first goal.

"Joss Labadie has also scored a couple this season from midfield, so it's good that the work we're doing on the training pitch is paying us dividends on the pitch.

"I've just said to the lads, we needed 11 points from this month and that included the Doncaster cup game, but I've said now I'll except ten."
