Coleraine 2-3 Lisburn Distillery

Lisburn Distillery beat Coleraine 3-2 in controversial circumstances.

Curtis Allen tapped in the opener on seven minutes but Gary Liggett levelled after 61 after a Mark Patton throw-in.

Patton threw the ball to his own player after Coleraine defender Aaron Canning had knocked the ball out of play to allow treatment for a Whites player.

Liggett was sent-off on 70, then David Cushley fired home a 25-yard shot, Stephen Lowry thumped the ball home on 86 but Patton fired in a minute later.

Stephen Lowry set up Allen for the opening goal, the striker knocking the ball past Billy Brennan before slotting home.

Garry Thompson brought a fine save from Michael Doherty, while Liggett and Neal Gawley had chances for the Whites before the interval.

Patton beat Doherty for the equaliser and then Liggett was sent-off for a second yellow card offence.

Cushley edged Distillery in front with a scintillating left-foot 25-yard strike.

Lowry looked to have earned the Bannsiders a point but Patton secured the Whites' first three points of the season.

Johnny Black almost levelled in the dying moments but his effort was tipped over the bar by Brennan.

After the game Distillery manager Tommy Wright defended his side's actions which led to the opening goal.

"It was just one of a number of controversial incidents during the game," said Wright.

"We didn't ask them to put the ball out of play, our player did not receive treatment and we told them that we were going to play on."

"I'm disappointed, it's not in the spirit of the game," countered Coleraine boss Oran Kearney.
