Tranmere captain John Welsh says the club have all the credentials to battle at the top of League One this season.
Rovers are seventh after four games and drew 1-1 with promotion hopefuls Sheffield United on Saturday.
Welsh, 27, told BBC Radio Merseyside: "The togetherness is brilliant in the squad and we've got some good players in there.
"We've got individuals who can do a bit of magic. The squad is probably one of the best in the league."
He added: "We're all pulling in the same direction and we want to finish as high as we can. Hopefully it's going to be a good season for us."
The former Liverpool player says he has been impressed with the start winger Martin Devaney has made to his Tranmere career.
The 31-year-old joined the club earlier this month following his release from Barnsley, after six years with the Tykes.
"With every game he's getting better and better," continued Welsh. "He looks sharper, he's getting on the ball, he's taking players on and that's what we want from him.
"We know what he's capable of and with every game he's getting there and against Sheffield United he showed it."
