Former club captain Michael Pook has been released by Cheltenham Town.

The 25-year-old midfielder was placed on the transfer list this summer but an agreement has now been reached to terminate his contract a year early.

Pook joined the Whaddon Road outfit in the summer of 2009 following his release from Swindon Town.

He was made skipper a year later following the departure of Shane Duff and made a total of 69 appearances for the club.
