Bradford City manager Peter Jackson believes he is unlikely to sign an experienced striker on loan before Saturday's visit of Barnet.
He had hoped to get someone in to bolster a forward line that has scored just twice in four League Two games.
Jackson told the club website: "We'll keep trying hard, but it's doubtful whether we can get someone in for the weekend at the moment.
"Every manager you speak to though, they are also after strikers as well."
He added: "I've spoken with 19 managers in the last two days about trying to get at least one player in.
"We still have one or two options open to us at the moment but nothing concrete at this stage.
"There may still be a chance of someone coming in before Saturday, maybe.
"We just have to try and make sure we get someone in at least for next week, especially with the window shutting on Wednesday."
