Norwich City lose Daniel Ayala for two months

Norwich City will be without defender Daniel Ayala for around two months with a knee injury.

He had made his debut as a substitute in the Canaries' previous outing, a 1-1 draw against Stoke.

"It looks like he'll be out for a couple of months," boss Paul Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"It's disappointing, he's hurt his knee, we just need to give him the time to get back."

Leon Barnett is now available after serving a one-match suspension following his sending off against the Potters.

But Elliott Ward is still sidelined by a knee injury of his own, with Lambert hopeful he will return after next week's international break.

That leaves Barnett, Zak Whitbread and Ritchie de Laet, on loan from Manchester United, as Norwich's centre-back options for Saturday's trip to Chelsea.

Midfielder Wes Hoolahan, who came off against the Dons clutching a hamstring, will be assessed closer to kick-off at Stamford Bridge.
