Tranmere goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams has expressed his joy at the club keeping their unbeaten home record on Tuesday ahead of Saturday's Yeovil tie.

Rovers beat Port Vale 4-2 on penalties in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "We've had a great start to the season so far and continued it on Tuesday.

"It was really nice to keep that winning streak going here as well, as Prenton Park is our home. We're still unbeaten at home."

The Tranmere keeper added that all at the club were taking the Trophy seriously this season, even if others in the competition were not.

"It [means something] and it certainly did to the manager," continued Fon Williams.

"He made sure that we were prepared and we were here to do the job right. We quite easily could have gone through the motions a bit, but it was vital that we carried on were we had left off."

Fon Williams joined Rovers after spending the end of last season at Rochdale, and he says he could not be in a better place.

He added: "I'm loving every minute of it working with the boys and especially with Dave Timmins the goalkeeping coach.

"I really like it here so as long as we keep winning it will keep putting a smile on my face."
