Richard Pacquette struck the only goal of the game four minutes after half-time as Hayes & Yeading beat Tamworth.
He claimed his third goal of the campaign, converting Luke Williams' cross to earn his side their first win since the opening day of the season.
Kieron St Aimie shot wide for the visitors, while Danny Thomas missed the target with an even better opportunity.
The Lambs were then kept out by two second-half saves from Steven Arnold, to deny Thomas and Kyle Patterson.
But, in a game of eight bookings, Tamworth could not muster any more chances as they missed the chance to move into third place.
