Morecambe 6-0 Crawley Town

Danny Carlton netted a hat-trick as Morecambe annihilated Crawley Town in their top-of-the-table clash.

He slotted in Laurence Wilson's pass before Nick Fenton's header doubled Morecambe's lead.

Carlton headed home Jason Price's cross after Charlie Wassmer lost possession, and Kevin Ellison netted with a close-range finish.

And he got his third as he lashed home Izak Reid's cross, before Wilson's penalty competed the rout.

Wilson's penalty came after Gary McDonald was brought down in the area.

Crawley had started the day top of the table but drop down to fourth with Morecambe going top on goal difference from Rotherham.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Crawley boss Steve Evans told BBC Sussex:

"We were decimated. Let's not make excused. It could have been 12.

"Fair play to Morecambe. I thought they played exceptionally well. They're going to be up there.

"If you've got a young centre-back who can't defend, you're going to leak goals. But it's not about naming individuals. We were all a part of that.

"It was not acceptable."
