Notts County 2-1 Walsall

On-loan Colombian forward Cristiano Montano's second-half strike sealed Notts County's win over Walsall.

Notts, in a friendly on Thursday, went ahead through a wonder strike from veteran Lee Hughes.

The 35-year-old chested down Alan Judge's cross before blasting a volley past Saddlers keeper David Grof.

Andy Butler levelled for Walsall with a header after the break before Montano fired home Neal Bishop's chipped pass.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Notts County manager Martin Allen told BBC Radio Nottingham:

"It has been a momentous week. It's been a historical week. It's been very tiring, mentally and physically.

"What a great result, a very good performance considering what the players all had to go through. The travelling - we flew back (from Turin) yesterday morning - I think the players had four hours sleep the night before, after the (Juventus) game.

"I was a little bit concerned it might be a bit of a leggy performance, not quite full speed. It wasn't quite full speed but to still win, that's fantastic."
