Rochdale picked up their first league win of the season after a frenetic local derby at Bury.
Ashley Grimes headed the visitors in front, Marcus Holness headed home a Joe Widdowson corner and Nicky Adams lashed home from 15 yards to make it 3-0.
Mike Jones fired the hosts back into it from Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's pass only for David Ball to re-establish Dale's three-goal lead with a powerful effort.
Andy Bishop's tidy finish reduced the arrears before Adams saw red late on.

Bury manager Richie Barker told BBC Radio Manchester:
"We didn't get beat by somebody who did anything spectacular they just competed and showed more desire, more commitment and more work rate.
"It's hard to stomach from a team like mine to say we got out-fought really.
"If you give a team at home a three goal start in a local derby you want shooting, it's the biggest leg-up ever."
Rochdale manager Steve Eyre told BBC Radio Manchester:
"We're still not happy with the goals we've conceded but we're obviously delighted to win.
"We had strong, professional performances from Gary Jones and Marcus Holness, and when our goalkeeper made a world-class save I started to think we might be okay.
"He's (Nicky Adams) obviously got caught up in the occasion, he's scored and taken his top off, and it's possibly the cheapest booking I've ever seen."
