Abingdon United boss Richie Bourne admitted his side were below their best despite beating Wantage 2-1 to reach the FA Cup first qualifying round.
United striker Scott Griffin scored twice after Richard Claydon's opener for Town.
Former Wantage boss Bourne told BBC Radio Oxford: "We weren't great today. These games are very scrappy normally.
"But it was about the result today and I am delighted that we've managed to win it."
