Forest Green Rovers defender Chris Todd will be sidelined for up to five months with a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old tore the muscle on his debut against Stockport County on the opening day of the season and has now undergone surgery.

"We treated the injury as a hamstring tear... but after intensive therapy we sent him for a MRI scan," physio Tim Grigg told the club website.

"It revealed Chris had torn two of his three hamstrings off the bone."

Former Torquay centre-back Todd joined Forest Green from Newport County in May on a two-year deal.
