Liverpool captain Vicky Jones says the club must add experienced international players to the squad for next season.
The Reds finished bottom the FA Women's Super League with just one win.
"We need international players and experienced players who've played at this level and know what you need to do," Jones told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"Looking at the players we've got, we have some good players. But we need some experience and quality to be the final piece of the jigsaw."
After their disappointing start to the season, Liverpool recruited three new players to bolster the squad, with Chloe Jones joining from Leicester, Emma Jones coming from Bristol Academy and Beth Bailey arriving from Nottingham Forest.
The Reds skipper admits they helped the club get their first win of the season at Chelsea and were good additions.
"You always need fresh faces and you always need new players that are going to perform and push the players you have," added Jones.
"You need competition and that's what makes the squad. Definitely bringing in new players has been a positive and we'll be looking to do that again next year."
