Sean Hessey's late equaliser denied Rotherham the chance to move above Morecambe at the top of League Two.
Captain Ryan Cresswell gave the Millers the lead when he headed Danny Schofield's cross in off the post from close range.
Stanley equalised when Hessey fired a quickly taken free-kick past Rotherham keeper Conrad Logan.
Andy Scott's side are level on points with Morecambe but have an inferior goal difference.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Rotherham boss Andy Scott told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"We started off the game the way we wanted to and needed to continue that for 90 minutes, we had a chance in the first 20 seconds and every time we got a ball in the box we looked dangerous.
"I think we've had a couple of games this season that if we'd played the way we could do for the whole game we could have scored six or seven easily.
"I want people to really see what we're doing and that we're doing the right thing."
