Guernsey FC will be without striker Craig Young for several weeks after the leg injury he suffered in Saturday's 5-0 win over Worcester Park.
There were fears that the 24-year-old had broken his leg in the challenge after an hour, but boss Tony Vance says it is unlikely to be that bad.
"At the moment it may be ligament or tendon damage," he told BBC Guernsey.
"It's good news that it might not be a break, but he certainly won't be available for the next few weeks."
Young has yet to score for Guernsey FC this season, but Vance says he is a big part of his side.
"I think he's a fantastic footballer and he's a very important part of our squad, so the quicker he can get back the better," he said.
