US Ouakam have been crowned Senegalese champions for the first time ever.

The Dakar-based side wrapped up the title with one round of games remaining following a 1-1 draw away to Dhara.

The draw was good enough to take them six points clear of their nearest challengers: Casa Sports and Diaraf.

Ouakam will now contest the Caf Champions League for the first time.

The club has previously won the Senegal Cup - in 1964, 1989 and 2006.

Thanks to the latter victory, Ouakam contested the 2007 Confederations Cup but exited in the second round after losing to Burkina Faso's Etoile Filante.

Senegalese internationals Pape Malickou Diakhaté (Granada) and Guirane N'Daw (Birmingham City) both played for the club before moving to Europe.

The Senegalese championship sees thirty rounds of games for each club per season.
