Wigan Athletic have opened talks with midfielder Victor Moses over a new contract at the DW Stadium.
The 20-year-old, who joined the Latics from Crystal Palace for £2.5m in February 2010, still has two years to run on his current deal.
"We've got a few young players with big roles," said manager Roberto Martinez.
"It's important we get stability in their careers so they can concentrate on football. Victor is very much in that category."
The Nigeria international has played in all three of Wigan's Premier League matches this season as Athletic have made an unbeaten start to the campaign.
"We have said we want to achieve this season and take things further," added Martinez, whose side avoided relegation to the Championship on the final day of last season.
"I want the players to know where the next targets are individually in their careers.
"Victor only wants to concentrate on football and the level of football he has shown in starting the first three games has been really, really good. It is now time to kick on."
