Kettering Town duo David Bridges and Jean-Paul Marna have backed the imminent appointment of Mark Stimson as manager.

Stimson, who had League Two play-off success with Gillingham in 2009, will replace Morell Maison at Nene Park.

"His record speaks for itself," Bridges told BBC Radio Northampton.

Striker Marna added: "It's a new start for everybody here. It's good for the players, everyone wants to prove themselves and to fight for a place."

The Poppies sit 22nd in the Blue Square Bet Premier, having conceded 15 goals and scored seven across seven games.

Midfielder Bridges thinks Stimson, who has two FA Trophy titles and a Conference South promotion to his name, can kick start their season: "He's won things and I think that sort of personality can only improve the environment and hopefully we'll turn things around quickly."
