Stevenage's Don Cowan gets international clearance

Striker Don Cowan has completed his move from Longford to Stevenage after being granted international clearance.

The 21-year-old's "five-figure switchexternal-link" was agreed on Wednesday, 31 August and has taken almost two weeks to finalise.

The delay meant Cowan missed last week's win over Rochdale and Saturday's draw with Oldham.

Stevenage have not disclosed the length of the contract for the forward, who scored eight times in 19 games for Irish side Longford.

Boro boss Graham Westley, speaking last week, said he was unsure why the clearance process was so convoluted.

"I don't know how long these things take, but we're certainly not getting any answers at the moment," he told BBC Three Counties Radio.

"I'm not going to pretend I fully understand the clearance system.

"There's all sorts of complications in the systemised way of these things."
