Barnet 0-2 Oxford Utd

Oxford recorded a comfortable away win at Barnet.

The hosts thought they had taken the lead but Mark Hughes' effort was ruled out for handball before Simon Heslop thumped the U's ahead from 25 yards.

The visitors made it 0-2 before the break when defender Liam Davis fired home from Peter Leven's lobbed pass.

Hughes forced a good save from keeper Ryan Clarke and Izale McLeod headed over before U's skipper Jake Wright saw red for a second booking late on.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Oxford United manager Chris Wilder told BBC Oxford:

"I knew Barnet would ask some questions because they have some good players.

"We started well but for a period we were the architects of our own downfall by giving away too many free kicks, and maybe overplayed, but we stood up to that and scored two fantastic goals.

"There were good signs for the team. Eight or nine games in we are evolving as a team and we are heading in the right direction."
