Robert Koren's superb goal earned Hull City victory against a Portsmouth side who had Luke Varney sent off.
Koren, who celebrated the birth of his daughter this week, scored with a stunning long-range effort after just 11 minutes to give Hull a deserved win.
Pompey's hopes of turning things around suffered a major blow in the 78th minute when Varney was dismissed for a foul on James Chester.
Hull held firm to earn a third-straight 1-0 victory and climb to eighth place.
